The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on 8 September 2026, that Bangladesh will host the West Indies for a two-match Test series in October and November 2026. The two teams will play the Test matches in Mirpur, Dhaka, and Sylhet between 28 October and 9 November 2026.

Tour Schedule and Match Venues
The West Indies team will arrive in Dhaka on 18 October 2026 to begin their tour of Bangladesh. On the same date, the Bangladesh national team will compete in a One Day International (ODI) tri-series against Afghanistan and Zimbabwe in the United Arab Emirates.

The visiting West Indies squad will have a three-day warm-up match. They will face a local XI team at the Basundhara Sports Complex from 22 October to 24 October 2026.
The two teams will start the official Test series in Mirpur. The Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium will host the first Test match from 28 October to 1 November 2026.
Following the opening match in Dhaka, both teams will travel northeast to Sylhet. The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium will host the second and final Test match from 5 November to 9 November 2026. The tour will officially conclude after the second Test ends on 9 November 2026.
What This Means For World Test Championship Standings
This upcoming series carries major importance for Bangladesh in the World Test Championship 2025–27 cycle. Bangladesh currently hold fourth position in the nine-team WTC table. The team has collected 55.56 percentage points across six matches in the current championship period. Bangladesh remain among five teams that possess a realistic chance to reach the WTC final.
Bangladesh have recorded three wins, two losses, and one draw during their six Test matches in this cycle. The team recently earned a 1-1 draw in a two-match Test series against Australia in Australia. That series included a historic first Test match victory for Bangladesh on Australian soil.
Previous Head-to-Head Test Meetings in Bangladesh
The West Indies will return to Bangladesh for their first Test tour of the country since 2021. During that tour five years ago, the West Indies earned a 2-0 Test series victory over Bangladesh.
In the first Test of that 2021 series, West Indies batsman Kyle Mayers scored an unbeaten 210 runs in the fourth innings. His double century enabled the West Indies to successfully chase a fourth-innings target of 395 runs. The West Indies then secured a narrow 17-run victory in the second Test match in Dhaka to complete the series win.
#BCB chief selector Habibul Bashar recently told The Daily Star that “Tests will be prioritised.” That commitment will face a stern test as Bangladesh prepare to play five Tests, four of them in the current World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, within 50 days.

During that 2021 series, Bangladesh player Mehidy Hasan Miraz featured prominently for the home side at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Bangladesh will now seek to reverse those previous home results when the upcoming series begins on 28 October 2026. BCB chief Habibul Bashar highlighted the importance of these Test matches and how it affects their standings in WTC.
